July 21st – “Play the Master Simul”
In this event designed for students K-12 in the Grand Rapids area students will have the challenge of playing internationally titled Fide Master Joshua Posthuma! Originally from Holland Josh became a national master at the age of 15 and achieved his Fide Master title at 18. He is a full-time teacher and competitor that lives on the east side of Michigan. What is a simul?
A simul is where tables are set up in a u-shape with boards all around. Challenges are seated on the outside of this u-shape, each at their own board. Then, the master plays each game a move at a time moving from game-to-game. The goal is to survive as long as you can!
Where? Martin Luther King Park in Grand Rapids.
