GRCC Knockout Championship

In this exciting new event we will bring the magic of match-play and the intensity of a knockout bracket together in a new annual event.

The Championship Knockout Tournament will be a match format consisting of the top eight rated active members/players at the chess center. These will be chosen by rating and invitation until the eight slots are filled. The bracket will be a traditional 8-Seed tournament bracket with each round being played in a match format. Each match will consist of two games with a time control of 65/5. Each match will be played over two meetings at the chess center. In the case of an even score after two games the players will play a winner-take-all Armageddon with white getting 8 minutes and the black getting 5 minutes with draw odds. The cost for this event is $10. There will be a trophy for first place and a $40 cash prize.
